Dr. Howard B. Chrisman, MD, MBA, FSIR is the CEO of Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, the primary teaching affiliate of Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Since joining Northwestern Memorial HealthCare in 1997, Dr. Chrisman has been an active clinician and leader who now has primary responsibility for Northwestern Medicine. Northwestern Medicine is comprised of 11 hospitals, over 200 ambulatory and diagnostic sites, and more than 5,500 aligned physicians.
Dr. Chrisman previously served as the Executive Vice President of Clinical Operations for Northwestern Medicine, President of the Northwestern Medical Group, President of the South Region and Palos Health and Vice President of the NMG Regional Medical Practice. Dr. Chrisman has previously served as Interim Chair of four different departments: Radiology, Anesthesia, Pathology and Surgery.
Dr. Chrisman joined Northwestern Medicine in 1997 as faculty and is a Professor of Radiology and Surgery. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University, a Doctor of Medicine degree from SUNY Upstate Medical University, and a Master’s of Business degree in Health Care Administration from the University of Colorado. He did his in residency in Radiology at the University of Virginia and his fellowship in Vascular and Interventional Radiology at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Dr. Chrisman has published numerous peer reviewed journal articles and has given multiple scientific and invited oral presentations. Dr. Chrisman is still active clinically with a primary expertise in treating fibroid disease using endovascular techniques.
