Greg Hersch is Senior Vice President and Head of Enterprise Strategy at Merck, a global healthcare company with a 130-year history discovering, developing and providing innovative products and services that save and improve lives around the world. In this role, Greg facilitates strategic development and planning efforts across the company with responsibility for developing and executing on an integrated enterprise-wide strategy, with a focus on accelerating simplification and digital efforts. Greg leads the enterprise strategy team, promoting strong collaboration across the enterprise to enable the development of a unified strategic approach, as one team, driving the strategic actions necessary to prepare Merck for future success.
Greg joined Merck from Novartis where he was Digital Program Head within Novartis’ Global Drug Development organization and was responsible for the development and implementation of enterprise-wide digital transformation initiatives. He successfully led efforts in automation, analytics, digital enablement, and operational innovation. Prior to this role, Greg led Novartis’ Strategic Operations Business Unit supporting enterprise-wide business services and manufacturing transformation programs at Novartis’ headquarters in Basel.
Greg holds a PhD in Protein Biochemistry and Biophysics from MIT, as well as significant leadership experience delivering innovation and transformation during his tenure at the Boston Consulting Group. He also has a deep passion for technology and user experience from his early days working in the technology sector.
