Dr. Osnat Luxenburg is the Director of the Medical Technology, Health Information, Innovation and Research Directorate at the Israeli Ministry of Health. In this role, she is responsible for the regulation and licensing of all medical technologies including – pharmaceuticals, biological products, medical devices, procedures etc. She is in charge of decision-making on reimbursement at a national level (health services to be included under the National Insurance Law). Her other roles include – licensing all the hospitals and other medical facilities in Israel, the regulation of radiation protection in Israel and formulating national health policy.
The Directorate is also responsible for the health information in the Ministry including national data gathering as well as national registries such as the cancer registry. Another main activity is supporting research on a national level and promoting innovation in the biotech field in Israel.
